Workshops
Recovery Support Training (RST)
This training is designed to prepare people to do recovery support work with
people who receive behavioral health services. The training helps a person
transform their experiences into a uniquely individual service that only
they can offer. See our Recovery

A Home for Me – Arcadia, Thurs. 11a-12p
Along with the members we assist on apartment searches, with
pre-qualification applications, complete an assessment, get paperwork ready
to go on apartment hunt, and meet with case managers on a case by case
basis. We look for housing that fits the member's needs. Transportation is
available to this group on a limited basis you must to call Jacqueline
Fields at 602-670-9803 to reserve a space 48 hours in advance.
Art Class- Mesa Thurs. 10a-12p, Highland Mon. and Wed. 2p
From beading to painting and beyond the different Centers offer a wide
variety of arts and crafts projects.
Birthday Celebration – Highland, Third Wednesday of the Month
12p-1p
A healthy dose of fun and a slice of cake make the celebration of the
month's birthdays a blast. In the month of June it will be held on Monday
instead so double check your calendar so you won't miss it.
Changes - Mesa, Fri. 12-1
Talk about healthy eating, weight management, building a healthy support
system and how our physical well-being affects other aspects of our life.
Coffee Club – Highland, Tues. and Thurs. 10-11a
Come and join us for a cup of coffee and open discussion about what's going
on for you.
Communication - Highland, Tues. and Thurs. 2-3p
Using communication skills to express with compassion our needs and
wants.
Community Living - Mesa, Fri. 1:30-4
Learn how to go out in the community and participate.
Ethics and Boundaries - Mesa, Mon. 12p-1p
Where do you draw the line? It is always a tough question to answer and
after a few sessions we hope that the task becomes easier.
Recovery with Dignity - Mesa, Wed. 1p -2p, Highland Mon. 10-11a
Open Topic - Highland, Wed 9:30a-10:30a
Is there something on your mind? Everyone has a chance to speak about topics
that they choose.
Food Boxes - Arcadia Thurs. 9a-11a, Highland 2nd and 4th Wednesday
of the month 11a-1:30p
The members come to the Empowerment Centers and transportation is available
with adequate notice. They are transported to the food bank and then home.
Fun Friday - Highland, Friday 10a-11a
Board games are top dog when Friday rolls around. Join other members and try
your hand at some games you know and others you want to learn.
Grief and Loss - Mesa Wed. 2p-3:30p
This group helps the members explore their lives and discover how it is that
they choose to grieve and experience loss.
Grocery Shopping - Highland, 1st and Third Friday at 1p
Make out shopping list, go over the weekly ads to find some deals, and then
make a trip to the grocery store with other members.
Healthy Minds - Mesa, Mondays 2-3p
Building healthy self-esteem is the order of the day during this group. Come
and tell us about your methods of confidence building.
How are you Doing Today? – 1300, Daily 8a-10a
Each member has an opportunity to enjoy a cup of coffee and share their
feelings about what today might bring.
Laughter Group - 1300, Daily 10a-12p
We find activities that bring us joy; watch a movie, tell a joke, or make
conversation with other members.
Life Skills - Mesa Thurs. 2p-4p
Integrity, personal responsibility, taking life as it comes, managing every
day life these are the topics of conversation during this session. Join us
and share with us what you know.
Loneliness v. Depression - Mesa Tues 4p-5p
Lonely doesn't equal depressed. Join the group discussion about ways to
distinguish the two and practical solutions to get past
"loneliness" and "the blues".
Managing Anger - Mesa, Mon. 3p-4:30p
Getting at the causes of the anger that moves us so we can better manage our
responses is the focus of this session.
Men's Group – Mesa, Fri. 12p-1p
Frank talk about topics that are chosen by the men at the East Mesa
Empowerment Center.
Morning Round Table - Arcadia Daily at 9a
Talk about current events and share personal stories. The focus of the group
is to keep the day started on an upbeat and uplifting note.
Movies - Highland, 2nd 4th, and 5th Friday of the month 2p-4p and
at West Camelback each Wednesday from 1p-5p
Peer Support Class - Highland, Fridays 12-1p
A variety of topics are discussed giving you and other members an
opportunity to participate and become a model of what peer support looks like.
Reading Readiness - Mesa, Thurs. 12:30p-1:30p
Even the most intelligent people can have difficulty reading. Learn some
skills to help you get past your barriers.
Stress Class - West Camelback, Wednesdays 10a-12p
What kinds of things cause you to feel pressured? Find out some techniques
for clearing out the stress and feeling better about yourself.
What are you Doing Tonight? - 1300, Daily 3p-4p
Come together with other members at the end of the day and talk about what's
waiting for us to do for the rest of the evening.
Writing and Journaling - Arcadia, Coming soon...check with the
Project Director if you are interested.
The group will be finding a new means of expressing one's self through the
written word. A theme will be chosen for each group so that as the members
continue as a group they will have a written account of their own
journey.
Women's Group - Mesa Wed. 12p-1p
Engage in candid conversation about the issues that are being faced by the
women in this community.
